In 2006 Kayla stepped into optical and has sought out ways enhance the magic of our industry ever since. Finding a passion for optics as an optician, she began incorporating her business and marketing education into her love of optics. Developing as a business consultant for multiple opticals, she created a unique tool for maximizing the profitability of frame boards. She was asked to work for a lens distributor and used her skills as a speaker to solidify partnerships with the independent opticals they serviced. This expanded her sknlset to making a difference in the Northwest United States.

The next step needed to be something big! This is when SPEXY started, with the belief that the independent ECP can do more, if they just had access to it. Kayla did not stop after creating the frame management platform for opticals. She has become an international optometric speaker. She has created an online portal for opticals to access education. Most importantly, she has empowered independent opticals to think about our eye-world differently.

Mikki Collins
ABO/ NCLE
Mikki Collins brings over 15 years of experience and expertise in the optical industry to her educational courses. Her journey began as a Certified Surgical Technician, assisting ophthalmologists in life-changing procedures such as cataract, cornea, and glaucoma surgeries. Mikki later served as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant at a multi-doctor facility for a decade, where she honed her skills and knowledge in patient care and practice management. She played a pivotal role in establishing a cold-start practice for one of her physicians, giving her firsthand insight into building a successful business from the ground up.

As a former military spouse, Mikki's career path reflects adaptability and resilience. Her dedication to the optical industry remained steadfast as she navigated relocations, developing a passion for helping people see their best and be their best. Since 2020, Mikki has expanded her expertise into the wholesale sector, where she continues to make a significant impact as a Education/Business Development Associate Manager for Safilo.

Mikki is the founder of ROWT Magazine, an innovative publication that reshaped how the industry addresses important issues. Her contributions have been widely recognized, earning her accolades such as Vision Monday's 2023 Most Influential Women in Optical - Innovator and Eyecare Business Magazine's 2021 Game Changer Award. As a mentor, associate vice-chair, and founder of the Her Story initiative with the Optical Women's Association, Mikki is dedicated to empowering the next generation of optical professionals.
